I spent the weekend fighting a case of the sniffles that Gabby graciously shared with me. Well, actually... I didn't put up too much of a struggle. Mostly I succumbed by snuggling into my warm shawl I just recently crocheted for myself, with my feet {bedecked in my rosy pink slippers!} propped up and dogs {and a sea of tissues & plenty of hot tea} surrounding me while I pored through some pattern books looking for new inspiration. After knitting 5 pairs of slippers, I was ready to move onto something else.
So, I'm starting with the stitch pattern of a crocheted wrap from one book and reconstructing it to look like a knitted wrap from another book. Then I'll either crochet or knit up some roses to sprinkle across the top and possibly finish it off with a crocheted edge from yet another book. Whew! This creativity stuff uses up some of the little gray cells sometimes!
The three books I'm working with are some of my favorites:
"The Chicks with Sticks Guide to Crochet" by Nancy Queen & Mary Ellen O'Connell
"Knitted Flowers " by Nicky Epstein
"Crocheting on the Edge" by Nicky Epstein
* I really like Nicky Epstein. Does it show?
When the project is finished it's going to be a poncho. I'll show it off in a few days. Then put it in my Etsy shop. {No matter how much Chelsea begs for it!}
Happy Monday to all!

Way to plan ahead!! You got all your warm cozies knitted & crocheted up just in time to REALLY need them! Sounds like you're perking up a bit. Keep feeling better! I love you!
As long as I've got PLENTY of yarn, I can always be revived! If I begin to feel faint all Scott has to do is wave a skein under my nose.
And I love you too!:)
Okay I'm going to try. When I get to feeling better in a couple days I'll stop by HL or someplace and pick up what I need. We'll see how it goes.
Isn't Nicki Epstein the best! I have a pattern and yarn all set to go to knit one of her scarfs :)
Well Hello Mr. Puffy~
Been wondering what you've been upto!
Yes~ Nicky Epstein IS the best.
Do show us that scarf when you get it going.

Hope you're feeling better today. We've been down with a cold/sinus thingy here at our house the past week or so.
I bought some yarn last night so I can try the slipper pattern you posted. I'll let you know how it goes. :o)
Also, I added you to my blog's "Cottage Friends" list, hope you don't mind.

i WANT TO SHARE THE SNIFFLES WITH YOU AND GABBY, OH YOU MAKE IT SOUND SO RELAXING TO BE SICK!! HONESTLY, I HOPE YOU AND GABBY FEEL MUCH BETTER TODAY.
That's a good way to pass away the sniffles. Red is my favorite color so I am loving the poncho you started. It will be lovely with rose embellishments.
In a FEW DAYS!! Oh my gosh! It would be 6 months for me! : ) Can't wait to see it.

I was in Walmart today and found a pattern but that looked awfully hard to me. I will go back when I have more time.
Tonight I'm cooking for our office meeting tomorrow. I think I will post the recipe.
Oh come on Patti Cakes ~ you can do it! And I'll be looking for that recipe.
Liz~
I must tell you my "day job" is taking care of babies {even furry ones} and playing with yarn!
I hibernate in the winter & the yarn is my lifeline!
Love your poncho! I enlarged the picture so I could marvel at your beautiful stitches! Appreciate your crochet advice on my blog. I'm thinking this is going to be a lot of fun.
Saw Nicki Epstein's Crocheting on the Edge at JoAnne's a few weeks ago. Gorgeous stuff!! It was all I could do to keep from buying it, but I know it's way beyond my abilities for now. Gives me something to dream about though!!
