The other project I have going {because I NEVER have just one at a time}, is more rosy slippers. There's a need for more PINK, of course, and then I must make a purple & off white pair. I sold a pink pair at the local yarn shop this week. So now I still need more for gift giving and selling.

I really enjoy making both of these items because, well ... after all ... there are ROSES involved {and plenty of PINK}!

Also, today's tea selection is, naturallly ~ Rose Petal ~ in my beautiful china cup and saucer set that Hilary gave me for Mother's Day a few years ago. Gotta love a daughter like that!:)

I wanted to stop by last night but I was so tired I turned off my laptop and climbed in bed. Love these roses. So creative.
The other night I was watching granny squares on YouTube. It's been 19 years since I made those and it all started to come back to me.
We are having tornado warnings today. The rain was coming down in buckets but it has stopped now.
I had a pretty good day today. Not so tired. That's a good thing.

Happy Birthday from me, too! What a neat day. This morning on my way to work, I thanked the Lord that 200 years ago a man named Abraham Lincoln was born and ended up being one of our nation's greatest men. I'm going to celbrate by watching a Lincoln bio. on the History Channel (if there's one on tonight), reading a little bit in my newly acquired copy of Herndon's Lincoln, and the flag is already waving on the front porch, of course.

A little fun asking fact. What party did good ole Abe run under for his second term? I know Becky will know, and it wasnt republican. How odd this honest and just man was the most dis-liked President of the time. Actually Ulysses Grant was so loved and the most popular man and president of the time, and now we barley hear about him. I have to admit I am intrigued by Ulysses Grants bio, he was a good man he just had a hard time with booze from time to time. 2 great men from the great State of Illinois! I pray that president Bush will get the recognition he rightfully deserves one day as well. I never thought he was the devil people have portrayed him to be. He kept our country safe and he loves our Lord. He did what he felt was right , he never wavered from his beliefs,for popularity or for political gain. many times we have to do the right thing not what feels good, and so often what is right doesnt feel good at the time. here I go again talking about everything except yarn, needles and hooks. So sorry Danette, still love me?

The roses really turned out nice. What a great project to work on while it rains. And your little rose princess is just the absolute cutest little darling! Her curls are too cute! Lucky you to have a sweet rose near you every day. :)
Kathy, I'm ashamed to say that I had to cheat to get the answer! It must be the National Union Party. I remember reading it, but it didn't sink in that for a few years this NU Party absorbed the Republican Party. Wow, I'm impressed - I had to dig to find the answer and even called my history brain dad and stumped him!
Yes, Abraham Lincoln was just what our nation needed. I'm so grateful to him for his sacrifices - ultimately his life. He & Ronald Reagan are a couple of people I wanna see right away when I get to heaven.
I agree 100% about President Bush! He also sacrified a great deal for our country, and I trusted his judgement, whether it seemed right to me or not. He has facts and intelligence I will never know, therefore I have no business judging the decisions he made in the perilous times we had. I loved him, he had a kind & giving disposition & the way he was treated by the media was disgraceful, disrespectful, arrogant, and totally unsubstantiated.

Sorry Danette I had to write my new friend once more, I have to confess, There is a new book out about Lincoln a doctor who is a Lincoln impersonator, has just released the book, i am ashamed to say i forgot the title,the book claims to have many new facts not known about Lincoln. I am addicted to cable news and he was on Fox Monday. Oh so sorry to mention Regan just another from the great state of Illinois. I dont count "that one", he isnt from Illinois originally. Oh, Kathy, you mean Lincoln isn't from IL, right? Ronaldus Magnus (Ronald the Magnificent) was born in IL. I'd love to read that book!! I'm always wanting new facts about Lincoln! I realized why I didn't know your trivia yesterday and I feel so much better about it. I haven't read Carl Sandburg's "The War Years" yet. Just "The Prairie Years." Praire stops at Lincoln's first election & trip to DC. The other Lincoln books I've read have focused on one thing or another. Whew! It's not that I forgot - I just really didn't know!

Becky maybe we are safe on this older post. I just consider Lincoln from Illinois, even though he was born in Kentucky and lived in Indiana for sometime. Makes me feel special to say Lincoln is from Illinois. LOL Actually, I was sending a hidden message about "that one". Dont want to offend any-one and say to much about the "Messiah"..Did you watch the debates? That quote was in the debate and it just stuck with me(funny).
Becky, I used to always have my nose stuck in a book, now I never have time to start any new books. I get up at 5:00 Am every morning just so I can read my bible in silence, every day. I am trying to find out about that new book I can only come up with Ronald C. White's new book that has just came out about Lincoln, honestly I dont think that is it, I will dig until I find it.
Oh my goodness, Danette has been silent for awhile. Think she's plotting our punishment? Eeek!! Ooops, sorry I didn't catch your hidden meaning - & I made you divulge it! Yep, know exactly who you're talking about now - just needed a HUGE hint! I'm looking at the bright side: with so much at stake, I am learning to pray consistently & fervently for our leaders. The thing I love best about President Obama is that he is a student of Lincoln's. (But he sorta deviated off the road, didn't he? ;-))
I forgot to tell you - I have Grant's memoirs but haven't read them yet. :( When I do, I'll have to report to you and compare notes! I love having things to look forward to!
