Sterling Silver Snowflakes

I finished the snowflake scarf last night. The only problem is that no picture can capture the sparkle of that slender strand of sterling silver that runs through this exquisite yarn. It makes this sumptuously soft combination of merino wool, silk, and nylon dance when the light hits it! This is the perfect yarn for crocheting this scarf because it looks like a fresh fallen snow with the sun shining all over it. It's like seeing the ground covered in millions of sparkly diamonds. And what girl doesn't like a vision like that?!

Here's a few snowflake facts I found fascinating:

~Billions of snowflakes fall during one short snowstorm.
~The average snowflake falls at a speed of 3.1 miles per hour.
~The largest snowflake ever recorded was 15 inches wide & 8 inches thick. It was seen in 1887 at Fort Keogh, Montana by a man named Matt Coleman.
~There are 35 different types of snowflakes.
~People buy more cakes, cookies, & candies than any other food when a blizzard is in the forecast.
~ It's the ever-changing environment inside of clouds that makes snowflakes unique.

~And my absolute favorite!~

~In Prince Edward Island, Canada, where the soil is red clay, snowflakes often look pink because red dust from the soil is blown into the air & absorbed by the clouds.

I would love a ground full of PINK SNOW! And I have to say that the harder it snows, the more I bake. If we get snowed in at least we'll have plenty of goodies to eat:)!

A quote from "The Christmas Quilt":

"Christmas 1942 stands out in my mind for a lot of reasons. More happened that day than happens most years. For one thing, it snowed. We get snow in the North Georgia mountains, but rarely on Christmas Day. I still remember running around outside the house, chasing fat flakes that fell slow like fluffy seeds off a cottonwood tree. I love snow, just like Granny did."

"Purify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean;
Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow." Psalm 51:7

"He sends forth His command to the earth;
His word runs very swiftly.
He gives snow like wool;
He scatters the frost like ashes." Psalm 147:15,16

Remember when you are shoveling snow this year and cleaning off cars, to look around you at the miraculous beauty of snow. Breathe deeply and inhale the fresh scent that must carry the very breath of God in it!

Happy Snow Days!

~UPDATE~
I'm so excited! I just put this scarf up for sale on my Etsy shop and 20 minutes later it sold!!:)
On monday morning it will start its journey to North Carolina. God is So Good!

Pink snow!!! Let's move to Prince Edward Island. After all, we can bake just as easily there as we can here.

That's my Girl!:) Can we take all my critters along too (even a new puppy I might get for an anniversary/Christmas present?
Wouldn't they all be adorable frolicking around with Gabby in PINK SNOW?!

Uh-oh. The cat in the hat turned snow pink once and it was not good!! Although pink snow is better than brown-exhaust snow and certainly much more delightful than yellow snow!!

Pink snow would be better than yellow snow. I'll see what I can get Sophie and Jose' to come up with.

I would definitely move to Prince Edward Island...pretty sure that's where Anne of Green Gables took place, so I'm already in love with it. I'm sad that I missed knit/crochet night tonight...if I don't see you before the holidays (which I'm sure that I probably will, but...)--have a wonderful holiday!!!

Hello Sarah! I think you're right about Anne of Green Gables, which makes it work all the more for me too. We missed you tonight! I will be in Eli's looking for you soon. We'll still have class next Monday if you're able to come. Merry Christmas to you too!:)

Wow, I would love to see that! Does anyone remember snow ice cream? Too bad that's not safe anymore. Wonder what pink snow would taste like, I'm pretty sure I have never had yellow snow ice cream...pretty sure that would be icky! lol!

Okay, now look what you've done with all your snow talk! The snowflakes I'm seeing right now are as big as each flake on this scarf! I bet I'd like it more if:
1) my gas cap wasn't frozen shut
2) the snow was pink

Despite my annoyance with snow, I'm amazed that the Lord has such an imagination to make each snow flake unique.

Love,
Becky
P.S. A raspberry sticker adorned my sock when I got home. Probably the same one that graced Gabby's ear. :-D
