Rosy Pink Slippers

I'm LOVING these rosy pink slippers I just finished knitting! They are warm & toasty and well...

PINK!

~ Plus~ you know I HAD TO make them BLOSSOM with a crocheted rose.

I knit them up using three strands of Cascade 220 wool held together. Then chose the lightest pink to make the sweet little roses. They are fast and fun to make and cozy and pretty to wear!

I feel like Cinderella must have felt wearing her glass slippers to the ball. Except: my feet are much warmer, I can stay up past midnight wearing them while sitting and knitting in my comfy over~stuffed, rose covered chair (with matching tufted ottoman!) and at the end of the night my feet won't hurt like crazy as surely a pair of glass slippers must be excrutiating to endure!

Of course, much of the knitting was accomplished with Jose, my precious 3 pound chihuahua & constant companion, on my lap. He's never been crazy about the tickling experience of yarn running over him, however is now willing to endure ANYTHING to be picked up and safely away from little Miss Phoebe! (who only wants to PLAY... and BITE).

Also, check out another new favorite find:
The yarn is encased in three seperate "Yarn Cake Holders" and look closely at the two crocheted roses sitting by them. One is a solid pink and the other is a variegated pink. They're tape measures. Don't you just LOVE them?! I certainly do!:) They were made by Susan who can be found at: http://www.knitsnthings.etsy.com/

The Yarn Cake Holders (great for keeping yarn tangle free, especially when working with more than one strand) sell for $2.50 each and the tape measures are $7.50 a piece. She does different animals upon request and darlilng cake tape measures. (I just love the creativity of other women). When I discovered her shop and contacted her to ask if she could make mine up in pink roses, she e-mailed me back immediately and said "SURE". She's GREAT to work with. Browse through her crocheted pretties & knitting patterns for sale and enjoy! Tell her Danette sent you.

~ Just A Note~

For anyone who might be interested in making these rosy slippers here's where you can find the free patterns:

www.geocities.com/blossomknitwear/threestrandslippers.html

www.lionbrand.com/patterns/chs-rosettes.html

For the slippers I used size 11 dpn's as called for, but when you get to the point where you connect to work in the round and knit 12 more rounds, I knit 15 more rounds {could just be my gauge ~ I'm loose when I knit/crochet}. This pattern is so easily adjusted to whatever size you need. The pair pictured here fits my size 6 1/2 feet and also both of my daughter's size 8 feet. Wouldn't they be a fun Valentine's Day present to give?! Hmm... maybe I'll even whip some up in a couple of color choices for my Etsy shop. We'll see.

For the crocheted rosettes I used just one strand of yarn and made mine in the size medium {ch 35}.

Happy creating!

Oh, my goodness, Danette, those are the cutest slippers I've ever seen! I can't believe you made them. I knit throws and that's it! I'm going to get the pattern from the link you posted but I doubt I'll ever figure it out. Throws seem to be about the limit of my knitting ability!

Thank you for stopping by and following Mimi's Garden. It's always fun to meet new people and see their blogs. Yours is really lovely. I'm going to read some more of your posts now...I'll be back!

Have a perfect weekend!

When I lived in (Shetland Isles) Scotland I took a machine knitting course and did make a sweater. I still have it. The wool is so warm and I'm always so hot that I never get to wear it.

John's leg is very sore but he is doing very well. I'm feeling better today. I see the doctor on Wed and I hope he can fix me.

Thanks so much for visiting Ravenhill Cottage. I'm so glad you did as it's led me to your wonderful blog...I love it!

I also knit so thanks for the slipper pattern. And, I am definitely a dog person. Your pups are all so cute and I think they're almost as spoiled as my dog. :o)

I'll definitely be back for more visits. Have a great weekend!

I love the three shades of pink you've used. I think if I tried to lay three strands across Peri ( my cat) it would be a disaster waiting to happen. The slippers would be a great valentine's present though.

Thanks to all of you girls for visiting my blog. I wish I could gather you all up in person, make some tea & goodies, and teach whoever wants to learn how to knit and crochet! What a great time we would have!:) I hope those of you who do knit will enjoy making some slippers. I'm on my fifth pair now!
Of course, both of my daughters just have to have a pair, then Mom & Sis will too! Love to all~ Danette

I'm following you AND you're on my blog list. That way I don't miss anything.

I wonder if I could crochet. I haven't tried that yet. Is that how one makes dolies? I can't find any around here. I could make my own. Is it hard to learn?

Patty Cakes~
Yes, doilies are crocheted. You use beadspread weight cotton {looks like twine almost} and a very small steel crochet hook. I taught myself to do it with a book years ago {you cand find them at Wal-Mart or Hobby Lobby}. You could do it I'm sure! It just feels like your all thumbs right at first due to how fine the cotton is {feels like you're working with air} but all of a sudden it begins to click.
Give it a try & let me know how it goes. I LOVE doilies!

OOPS! Sorry ~ just realized I misspelled "Patti"!

FYI~
I haven't done a new blog post the last couple of days due to a bad case of the sniffles. Gabby gave Grammy her cold this week. So, I'm just laying low, drinking lots of water and hot tea, wearing my warm knitted slippers & knitting and crocheting up a storm!
Hope to be back in full swing within the next day or so!
